MORE ABOUT MY PRACTICE:
Finding a therapist with whom you feel comfortable can feel daunting. I work with you to create a confidential, safe relationship. Together we determine your goals for treatment and a plan for implementing them.
I offer the following services:
- Individual Psychotherapy
- Couples therapy
- Group therapy
My office is conveniently located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
MY APPROACHES TO PSYCHOTHERAPY:
I draw from my training as a psychoanalyst but my treatment approach is integrative. My style is empathic, pragmatic and collaborative. We look at what your early experience can teach us about your personality, relationship patterns and current struggles. We also use our relationship as a source of information and support. By applying the self-awareness you gain in our work together, we unearth long-standing behavior patterns and perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more gratifying life.
While we can't change the past we can change our relationship to the past and work together to better understand and resolve the challenges in your life. I do my best to help you develop greater trust in yourself and others, greater self-confidence and healthy self-assertion. My objective is to assist you in fining the resources within yourself to achieve your true potential, accomplish personal and professional goals and lead a life worth celebrating.
My work is a passion and I consider it an honor and a privilege to facilitate your journey.
MY EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:
- I earned my Ph.D. at the City University of New York and my M.A. and B.A. from Columbia University.
- I have a certificate in psychoanalysis from the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.
- I have a certificate in EMDR from the EMDR Institute.
OTHER PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:
Apart from my psychotherapy practice I have written numerous articles for the public on topics such as bereavement, body image, dealing with difficult people and coping with chronic pain. I wrote a manual on stress management for lawyers commissioned by the New York State Bar Association; much of the information applies to people in the legal, corporate and creative professions. I have designed and conducted workshops and trainings on stress management and communication skills.
I serve as an adjunct clinical supervisor at Yeshiva University Ferkauf Graduate Center and have supervised extensively at City and Pace Universities.
