Welcome to West Counselling a& Associates. My name is Fred West and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#508) in the Province of British Columbia. I have been a family and marital therapist in Langley for over 34 years. I have an abundance of experience in the areas of youth, adolescent, family and marital therapy. I do accept criminal injury referrals and I am registered and accepted at a Level IV rating. With numerous years of professional counselling experience, I bring a common sense approach to my work and, if needed, can provide brief telephone support between appointments at no charge.
I specialize in the following areas: counselling children, play therapy, ADD/ADHD management and support, autism, parenting support, communication and problem solving for parents, marital /relationship issues, depression/grief/loss issues, stress management, self-esteem issues, separation/divorce issues, conflict resolution.
There are no formulas to making changes in your life. Each person is a unique individual. I customize my counselling approach to meet your personal needs. I draw from many different counselling modalities such as Client Centred, Humanistic Therapy, CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), Psychodynamic Therapies, Mindfulness based approaches. It is this individualized approach, combined with proven techniques, that help individuals and couples reach their goals that go beyond symptom relief and achieve long-lasting change.
