I am a firm believer that we are not robotic beings.  Just as climbing Mt. Rainier has ups and downs, personal progress and growth takes a similar path.  Often I sit with new clients who feel "stuck" due to a variety of differing circumstances, conditions, or diagnoses.  I value rapport with my clients above all else and feel  that this is the most important part of successful therapy.  After that initial rapport and trust are developed, I value talking about "how" our sessions go in addition to the information shared each session.

I graduated from Trinity Washington University in Washington, DC with my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  My program had a multicultural basis and I am specifically educated in viewing issues through the lens of cultures beyond my own.  Through personal and professional experiences  I have a substantial background in multicultural counseling and enjoy working with people of all ages, cultures, lifestyles and genders.  I enjoy helping clients of all backgrounds find their own path to health, healing and happiness.

The client-counselor relationship is unique.  Although clinics and offices can feel intimidating at first, I approach this relationship as two people trying to get through the day as successfully as possible.  Re-discovering one's strengths or finding new ones is the foundation of making progress in therapy.  Treatment goals built on strengths will provide the direction and support to make progress outside of treatment.

As a passionate musician, educator, therapist, and human being, I emphasize the importance of self-care in therapy in addition to becoming well-rounded, resilient and durable.  Self-care can look different for everyone but works to support therapy and increase overall happiness.  As a buzz-word in our world today, happiness is relative but also achievable for everyone.  Just as babies are not trained, but are naturally programmed with the ability to smile and cry, lost opportunities for happiness every day, even with clinical conditions or diagnoses can be discovered in therapy.

With a wide variety of clinical experience that has given me empathy for those most at risk, I feel at home with a diverse set of life's hurdles.  Regardless of the challenge, grounding my work in a simple approach for difficult situations has allowed my clients to find success.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) in Tacoma, WA specializing in the treatment of anxiety, grief, trauma, mood disorders, substance abuse, building self-esteem and relationship issues. I work in collaboration with those seeking to uncover and rediscover what brings fulfillment, meaning, and connection with themselves and with others.
In addition to private practice, I remain active in education as well.  I am under the supervision of Patty Swanson and I completed a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Trinity Washington University in Washington, DC.

Life is unpredictable.

Let's build resiliency together through a journey of strengths-based discovery.
