I am a clinician with over 20 years of professional experience providing services to adolescents, adults and couples. My purpose is to obtain a complete and integrated understanding of the client in order to be able to provide a professional, yet personal atmosphere where the person can feel safe, relaxed, supported and understood working towards healing and well-being. Beginning with a deep and comprehensive exploration of the client's current concerns and/or symptoms, I look at the experience and meaning of them in the person's life.
During therapy, we will explore and re-process how past and/or current experiences are impacting and coming in the way of being able to fully enjoy life and set future attainable goals. We will address how certain feelings and emotions affect our minds and our capacity to feel "free". I specialize in short and long-term psychotherapy with an emphasis on positive and tangible change. My experience includes the treatment of: Depression, Anxiety, Fears and Phobias, PTSD, Grief and Mourning, Couples Issues and the application of Clinical Hypnosis to the treatment of chronic/acute somatic pain. I am a Certified and Approved Consultant in EMDR- one of the most recommended and effective treatments for Trauma. I am also a Board Certified Coach specialized in Relationships and Wellness Coaching, and use these educational skills to help the client discover what she/he really "wants and needs".
I provide services in English and Spanish. I have a vast experience working with clients who went through an immigration experience and the grief process that comes together with it.
I am a 1995 graduate of Catholic University of Uruguay (UCUDAL) with a Master of Science in Clinical  Psychology and 2003 (Magna Cum Laude) graduate of Southern California University for Professional Studies with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD). I am licensed as Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Illinois and a Board Certified Professional Counselor.
My work experience includes providing psychotherapy services to  adolescents, their parents, adults and couples in a variety of clinical settings: Hospitals, Non-profit mental health agencies and Private Practice settings. I had the opportunity to work in different countries and cities around the world, giving me the possibility of  working with populations of varied backgrounds, greatly enriching my professional experience as a therapist.
I am a member of the American Psychological Association, Illinois Counseling Association, American Psychotherapy Association, American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, EMDR International Association, International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation and International Coaching Federation.
