As a skilled Counselling Therapist, I use an individualised and integrative approach to empower clients in my practice, help them to develop life skills and utilise the resources within to help face and resolve life’s challenges.

Therapy helps us to examine our past experience, reveal themes within our behaviours and understand what motivates us. Therapy also helps us to examine past trauma. Within the safety of therapy we can focus on how our thoughts and behaviours, as well as the systems we exist within, contribute to our problems, and gain insight on how we might learn new ways to react to the world around us.

Everyone is different and clients will respond in varying degrees to different therapeutic approaches. Drawing from humanistic and relational person-centered, psychodynamic, emotion-focused, solution-focused, cognitive behavioural, systems based and transpersonal theories, I endeavour to discover and apply which approach is most useful to helping people overcome the challenges they may be facing in their lives.

This is known as integrative counselling or therapy and is a type of counselling that takes a holistic approach to addressing the difficulties that may be impacting your health. This includes both our mental health and physical health, in addition to other aspects of our life such as our spiritual well-being. This type of therapy seeks to foster personal development and growth by focusing on not only what is happening in your life, but also who you are as an individual. Integrative counselling can help people who are struggling with their mental or emotional health to gain clarity and find solutions for themselves.

The focus of my work is to help my clients learn to trust themselves and realise their potential. It helps to identify and understand long held beliefs and assumptions that get in the way of our health, happiness and wellbeing. This discovery gives us permission to begin to question and evaluate the beliefs and assumptions that form barriers to our healthy self-development and happiness.

I am a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC), Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS). Originally from Canada, I obtained my BA(Hons) Counselling Studies and MSc Psychology at the University of Plymouth in the UK, where I also completed my practicum training to become a Counselling Therapist and Clinical Supervisor.

I have worked within and across different cultures in different corporate professional roles throughout my life as well as with organisations such as Your Emergency Service, the Nighttime Emergency Outreach Network, the Women’s Rape and Sexual Assault Centre, Cornwall Rape and Sexual Assault Centre and the Penhaligon Counselling Agency. I currently maintain private practices in both the UK and Canada.
