Jeffrey Kauffman has been a practicing psychotherapist for more
that 35 years. He was educated at the New School in Social and Political Research
in New York City, earning a Masters Degree in philosophy. He earned a Masters
in Clinical Social Work for Bryn Mawr College, and received post-graduate
training at The Institute for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in Philadelphia.
He has taught at Bryn Mawr College, Widener University and the University of Western Ontario, and has lectured internationally on mental health issues.You may read the

In his clinical practice his primary concern has been developing
careful attunement to the experiences, concerns, emotions, conflicts,
etc. that his clients bring into treatment, and developing ways of responding specific
to the needs of each individual. He regards building a strong therapeutic
rapport to be cornerstone of his practice.
Jeffrey Kauffman has developed special expertise in some
basic issues that persons come into treatment with. In his early years in practice he specialized
in grief, trauma and addiction, and has worked extensively with complicated
grief and trauma, especially trauma due childhood abuse and neglect. With regard
to addictions he has much experience and expertise in working with drug and
alcohol addiction and with sex and love addictions. He continues to regularly
treat persons who facing these issues. He has worked extensively with depression
and anxiety, as these are so commonly occurring, and often in conjunction with
other issues. He has a lot of experience working with couples on communication
and problem solving.
He has also a special interest in self-esteem, shame, self-critical
attitudes and other thoughts and feelings his clients have about their own self.
