Frequently Asked Questions
  1. What will the first session be like? Generally the first session will involve reviewing the initial paperwork that you complete, discussing your current concerns and goals for treatment, and working together to come up with a treatment plan to reach these treatment goals.
  2. How long does therapy last? Many of the evidence-based treatments that I recommend can be completed in 8-10 sessions. We can always add more sessions to our treatment plan if needed.
  3. Why are some sessions 30 minutes and some 60 minutes? Depending on the treatment you are completing, a 30-minute follow-up sessions may be sufficient. For example, in CBT for Insomnia, we review your most recent set of sleep diaries and outline changes to make over the next week. This can often be accomplished in 30 minutes.
  4. What if I want to use insurance? Although I do not accept insurance, I am happy to provide you with a superbill that you can send to your insurance company in order to be reimbursed for your services. It is recommended that you contact your insurance company to discuss how they reimburse for out of network providers.
  5. Do I have to do any work in between sessions? For many of the CBT-based treatments that I offer, there are take-home assignments that can be used to practice the skills that you are learning within our sessions.
