As a combat veteran, Jim has personally seen the effects of trauma and PTSD on individuals. Jim knows that at times conveying your story is challenging and wants you to know that he believes your struggles and validates the pain it has created. Alongside his personal knowledge, Jim has researched and analyzed the effects of trauma, PTSD from combat, accidents, violence and childhood abuse.
Combined with specializing in trauma and PTSD, Jim also specializes in marriage and couples therapy. He helps partners navigate the differences in their communication styles and also specializes in sexual and intimacy complications among couples. Jim is LGBTQ friendly and has experience with transgender evaluations. Alongside these specialties Jim also has a great deal of experience with individuals suffering from depression and anxiety and also coping with day-to-day stressors.
Before Jim began his career in the counseling profession, he had 30 years of experience in the real estate industry. Jim facilitated educating and training individuals in business, career assessment, and changing careers to better meet their life goals and objectives. With this experience Jim specializes and enjoys working with individuals interested in career counseling.

Jim received a Master of Arts in Counseling: Clinical Mental Health, from Adams State University. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce (B.S.C.) in Marketing, from the University of Louisville.
Jim uses an eclectic approach when practicing therapy techniques. Including his extensive training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), existential psychology and person-centered therapy. He has extensive experience working with adolescents, adults and couples.
