Do you struggle with anxiety? Do you have a moody teenager that needs some guidance? Do you sometimes get sad for no apparent reason? Do you have family conflicts that are driving you crazy? Do you just need someone to talk to outside your friends and co-workers? Or do you need to make some major decisions in your life?  I would love to help you and your family navigate through these concerns. In therapy I use Internal Family Systems because I have found this modality to be an effective way to build a stronger sense of self. You are not a one-dimensional person because you are unique with many complicated parts. Together we can uncover these parts and work on identifying your true self. This modality is best used with adults that are ready to go deeper and find out more about themselves.
I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is helpful for anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression or parenting issues. It is a  practical therapy that can have quick results for many different types of problems. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps connect your thoughts with  your actions.
I use Cognitive Behavioral play therapy with children by playing games that connect their feelings with their thoughts. I even use play therapy techniques with older children who need play therapy to make it more fun and engaging and less threatening.  Play therapy can take many forms, it can be games, art, symbolic play, building or simply observing play.
I am a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate in North Carolina.  I have a Masters of Arts in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte North Carolina.  I have a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain Georgia. I enjoy integrating my Christian faith with counseling techniques because I have found that when life is hard having hope in Christ can be more beneficial than psychological analysis.
I have experience working as a christian counselor at Hickory Grove Counseling Center and a pastoral care counselor with Carolina's Healthcare System North park. I enjoy working with middle-school students and their families, but I also enjoy working with adults of all ages. My special areas of interest include: anxiety, depression, self-esteem, school issues, family conflicts and martial issues. I am a compassionate counselor and I strive to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for healing and growth.
