You have likely arrived here because you are experiencing frustration, stress or emotional pain and you can’t get past it. Maybe you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed or out of control which is affecting your relationships and your life. Because you are not coping well, you may be experiencing a range of emotions-anxiety, depression, shame, anger or guilt. Whatever struggle has brought you here, you have taken that first step to moving past the hurt.

My Counselling Style
My counselling style can be described as creative, compassionate and collaborative. I offer creative experiential approaches (Hakomi, drawing, writing, etc.) to healing and growth and combine these with a variety of talk therapies (EFT, CBT, ACT, mindfulness-based techniques) that are tailored to your needs. I am committed to meeting you where you are at and helping you build upon your strengths. I use creative expression to help address the body/mind connection, enable emotional understanding, and strengthen self-awareness, self-compassion and resilience. I value how cultural and social background is a vital part of the therapeutic process as is self-care and self-compassion.

You may be thinking you are not creative but every person has creative potential. In sessions, you will never be forced to be creative if you are not ready. The therapeutic shift comes from the process and not the end-product and the experience tends to be a non-threatening process that allows you to explore and express emotions that are uncomfortable. I will guide you to tap into your own creative abilities that can open up doors to self-exploration and recalling your own strengths. You’ll be able to step outside of your problem, gain a different perspective and uncover possible new solutions. If you allow yourself to be open to the creative process, you can be kind to yourself, heal and strengthen your wellbeing.

About Me
I approach my therapeutic work with clients through my lens as a helping professional; with years of experience in humanitarian aid and international education. Reflecting on life experiences, I have learned to make sense of the link between doing meaningful work and burnout. I have also explored my attachment to my professional identity as an aid worker and healed from compassion fatigue. And when trying to process my struggle with the comfort-discomfort state of mind as a humanitarian aid worker, I experienced how experiential creative processes can help one to open up to self-exploration, growth and practicing self-compassion.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a graduate of Yorkville University’s Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology program. Other graduate level credentials are a MA and a MEd.  I hold professional membership with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), have a First Level Medical Qigong qualification and am continuing to train in EFT and Hakomi so as to better integrate them into my practice.
