My interest in working with people and communities was sparked at a young age volunteering in Nicaragua as a companion and advocate within rural areas and hospitals, providing support to adults, seniors, children and families who were ill and had scarce resources. I have had the wonderful opportunity to work in a variety of settings with diverse populations over the last 10 years. I have provided therapeutic services within mental health facilities, counselling agencies and correctional institutions. My work experience has been in addictions, mental health, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. This has set a humbling path for me, nurtured by a strong non-judgemental collaboration between therapist and client.

I hold a degree in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, completed the Assaulted Women's & Children's Counsellor Advocate Diploma at George Brown College, and graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work & Master of Social Work from the University of Waterloo. I received a Cognitive Behavior Therapy Certificate from Wilfrid Laurier University and have received extensive training in Dialectical Behaviour therapy. I am trained in Interpersonal Therapy for depression, grief, difficult life transitions and eating disorders; as well as the Gottman Method for therapy with couples. In addition, I use techniques from the Satir Growth Model, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I focus on a Strength-based and Empowerment-based treatment approach within an Anti-Oppressive framework.

I believe it takes a lot of courage to enroll in therapy. It can mean accepting that we need extra support to cope with different barriers that prevent us from living fulfilling lives. The reason is unique for everyone. Reaching out for support is a skill itself and a direction towards healing. Offering an inclusive and safe space where you can be vulnerable and be yourself is a priority. We can strengthen the self through awareness, identifying our needs and vocalizing them, leading us to accessing power we thought was lost. Shifting towards integrating our emotional, mental, physical and spiritual selves can guide us to a grounded state of mind. With a holistic approach, using techniques and strategies adjusted to your needs, together we can embark on a journey of self-transformation within an ethnic, religious, LGBT2SQ+, and gender inclusive space.
