People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. Anxiety or sadness. Grief, divorce or chronic illness. Some are tearful or angry—lonely—can’t get out of bed. Some may just be struggling to organize themselves to get out the door in the morning. You may long for an enthusiasm you once had, or a partner or companion who feels like home. —Maybe you’re hoping to find that sense of home within yourself. Is your child shy or anxious? Have school mornings become a battle zone? I bring over 20 years' experience to the pleasure of helping children, adults & parents overcome whatever has them *stuck* .
The tools I use are broadly psycho-dynamic, emphasizing insight & the healing power of the relationship between us. In the end, though, I use what works. Whatever you walk in the door with—however we greet each other—that's where we'll begin. I am warm, supportive & always curious. In work with children I use play & always work closely with parents.
Time and again, I’ve seen painful, seemingly hopeless situations give way to *something better* with the help of therapy. Therapy means having someone on your side--sticking by you. I never know what arc therapy will take until we've begun, but I know that—working together—change will come.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I came to social work through my work, early on, in therapeutic summer camps which was profoundly satisfying. Later, while teaching writing to children in the schools, I noticed that what really moved me wasn’t the teaching but the relationships with the children. All of this flowed very naturally into getting my Masters in Social Work.
