What is Unique About Dr. Kevin Alderson?
I am here to help. I fully embrace the "4C's" of my profession, an acronym I coined, which stands for caring, compassionate, competent, and well connected in the mental health community. You deserve the best, and that is all I offer. My ideal client is someone like you: that is, a person who is serious about improving, growing, and overcoming (or at least better managing) whatever it is you need help with now. In general, I work with addictions, sexuality, sexual orientation, gender, gender dysphoria, gender identity, and relationship issues, including those living alternative lifestyles.
I am an expert in helping. I am a respectful therapist who is deeply concerned about what matters right now to you. I have been a licensed psychologist since 1986, and despite my accomplishments, I am unpretentious, present, and humble. I am competent in many forms of psychotherapy.
I have also written 11 books in total. My award-winning 720-page textbook called "Addictions Counseling Today: Substances and Addictive Behaviors" was recently published by Sage, one of the largest publishers of textbooks in the U.S. I have also written two other textbooks.
Location
I see clients throughout Alberta and Ontario via high-quality video software. Most people find this as helpful as seeing me in person. You must live in either province, however, as these are the only two provinces in which I am licensed to practice as a psychologist.
Cost
Between $240.00 and $260.00 per 50-minute session.
Education
I earned a Ph.D. in counselling psychology from the University of Alberta in 1998, and an MSc in clinical, school, and community psychology from the University of Calgary in 1984.
