My greatest joy as a therapist is in helping my clients improve the quality of their lives and move forward with hope and purpose. I believe that we are all doing the best we can, given our situations and experience. At the same time, I know that we can learn to make changes that will significantly improve our lives. I provide a warm, welcoming and non-judgmental environment where my clients may explore their concerns, accept their past, explore their personal values, and move toward a more fulfilling and committed future.

With 20 years' experience in the mental health field, I have worked with adults, adolescents and children from diverse backgrounds. In addition to my private practice, I worked for a major rehabilitation hospital and a post-acute treatment center specializing in traumatic brain injury. I helped persons affected by serious illness and injury and their families adjust to their situations and promoted the patient’s participation in their own recovery.

I have worked extensively with members of the LGBT community helping them with issues such as coming out, family conflict, couples issues and other relationship problems. In addition, I have worked with parents, families and children who have become involved with Child Protective Services. Many of these clients have been affected by trauma due to being victims of physical, emotional and psychological abuse.

I have a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman's University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas, practicing in the North Dallas area. I am also a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I use hypnotic and relaxation techniques to help my clients manage stress and a number of other issues.

I use a variety of therapeutic approaches in my practice, depending upon client needs. I have been trained in Family Systems theory and also use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and various Cognitive Behavioral interventions. My approach is growth oriented and affirming. I adhere to the principles of DBT organized around the notion that clients need to be validated as they are and also encouraged to change for the better. In addition, my work is informed by the ACT approach of helping people move out of mental fixation into living their lives.

Are you ready to make changes in your life and move forward to a more fulfilling and productive future? Take that first step and call me. I look forward to working with you.
