Counselling creates the potential for you to experience what it means to become more present to your thoughts, emotions, and experiences, both as an individual and as a voice within the bigger whole of your family and/or community. My aim is to respect your values, norms, and beliefs, whether they are similar or different than my own. Counselling is also a collaborative process from start to finish as I join with you in your story.I tend to draw from a blend of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory (AT), and Spiritually-Oriented Psychotherapy. Though I do not limit you to only these approaches, I have found the benefits of these modalities include an increase in compassionate attention to thoughts, emotions, and sensory experiences, a workable framework to process and work through complex issues, and practical techniques you can take with you outside of therapy.I am a Certified Professional Counsellor (#707AB20) under the licensing regulatory body PACCP (Professional Association of Christian Counselors and Psychotherapists). I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling and have three years’ experience counselling individual adults ranging in age from 18 to 90. As a former Youth Pastor, I have 10 years’ experience working with youth but because I do not hold a Child and Youth Counselor designation, it is on a case-by-case basis I would counsel adolescents and in concert with my supervisor. I am also an advocate of life-long learning and am consistently engaging in ways to offer more effective support to my clients.
