LuAnn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with twenty-five years experience as a therapist. She provides a safe and nurturing environment in which
clients can share their stories, explore options, learn about themselves and
others, build their confidence and listen to their intuition. With compassion, insight and courage we can
come to terms with our circumstances and find ways to move forward. LuAnn’s approach is person-centered,
compassionate, and well grounded in clinical understanding and life experience.
A special feature of LuAnn's practice is the use of complementary methods to deepen and enrich the process of exploration and healing.
The MARI Card Test (maricreativeresources.com) uses mandala art therapy and a vocabulary of symbols based on the work of Carl Jung, which allow a window for expression of unconscious material. Clients gain amazing insights from this gentle, thorough and enjoyable process of exploration.
The Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT; qhhtofficial.com) is available to clients struggling with an issue that is unresolved after significant counseling work, and to other clients who come for this 3-hour, stand-alone process.
Neuro-Integration (alchemystery.com) is a brief, non-invasive bodywork technique using accupressure points which augments and speeds up the therapy process.
Additionally, LuAnn encourages spiritual exploration with a repertoire of ideas and readings integrating traditional religious perspectives with New Consciousness awareness. Clients feel free to discuss and make use of their spiritual resources without judgement and with openness and celebration.
LuAnn has worked intensively with children, adolescents, adults and families as an in-patient therapist at Lewis-Gale Center for Behavioral Health and at Bridges Child and Adolescent Treatment Center. She has been a member of the counseling staff at Randolph College since 2005, and has served as a member of the Centra Hospice social work team.
Her early career as a college instructor fueled her desire to work with young adults on emotional and psychological issues. She completed a masters in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1996. A creative artist and published poet, she has had a life-long interest in optimizing individual potential and interpersonal relationships. She encourages creative and spiritual self-exploration as foundational to growth in all areas. LuAnn is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Academy of American Poets.
