WHAT IS THERAPY? Therapy is a place to explore complex emotions and past issues in your life. It is a safe and comfortable way of working through difficult experiences in a safe, respectful and confidential environment. You should feel a sense of connection with your therapy such that you can be genuine with yourself, sometimes for the first time in a long time, explore confusing feelings while getting professional assistance and developing both insights and skills.
CREDENTIALS I am a Psychological Associate, registered with the Ontario College of Psychologists since 2008. I hold a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Psychology, 1999.
TRAINING Over the years, I have trained in a variety of approaches. These include, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness  Based Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy, Hakomi Body Therapy, Art and Creative Therapies. We use what is needed pending the issues you are struggling with.
MY APPROACH My approach to therapy is warm, engaging, yet direct. Given the complexity problems, I meet you where you are and explore the various layers of an issue as we move through the therapy process. My approach considers mental, physical, emotional and contextual (life experience) aspects of your suffering. Therapy is an active exploration of issues where emotional, behavioural and thought patterns that impact you are explored. This 2 way dialogue requires respect and trust. As we explore points of hardship, we move towards developing and trying new coping mechanisms and approaches. The objective is to decrease mental suffering and increase a sense of hope and well being moving forward.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN THERAPYTherapy is a place to meet yourself at a deeper level.  Together we explore and unravel sources of suffering. I will help you move from struggle to a point of self understanding, challenge and breakthrough.  You will gain more hope and confident along the way. You will likely experience positive states of being that have long been buried or that you have not felt before. As therapy unfolds, you will find a new language, shift old patterns and learn how to take care of your needs in a genuine and self honoring way.
