Hello, my name is Meagan Philip.  I knew from early on that I wanted to help others, so when I was accepted to the University of Georgia I pursued and earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.  I later attended Augusta University and earned a Master's degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology.  While at ASU I was educated in the assessment of psychological problems and in providing therapy to individuals, couples, and groups. I completed an internship at the Walton Rehabilitation Center in which I worked with individuals who had suffered recent medical setbacks.  I aided my clients in better understanding their concerns and establishing their need for further care.  I was then privileged to work with veterans through my internship on the Trauma Recovery Clinic at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.  At the VA I was able to work with men and women on combat related traumas and sexual assault related traumas they had faced.  Following graduation from ASU I continued my education and training and became a Licensed Professional Counselor.

I have loved living in Augusta, Georgia and made Augusta my home.  I have worked with a variety of populations here. Post-graduation I worked at the Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta with children and adolescents with significant behavioral, emotional, and mental health concerns.  I briefly worked at Aurora Pavilion at as a PRN therapist.  There, I worked with adolescents and adults in the inpatient setting.   I currently work in the private practice Georgia Psychology and Counseling.  In addition to conducting therapy sessions with individuals and families, I also assist Dr. Adrian Janit in completing formal psychological evaluations.  We evaluate a variety of mental health concerns including learning disabilities, behavior disorders, autism, anxiety, depression, substance use, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders.  I continue to seek out opportunities to educate myself by attending conferences and continuing education events, as well as reaching out to colleagues and reading up to date literature on mental health.

My approach to therapy is to be non-judgmental and supportive.  I also only utilize therapy practices which are shown through research to be effective.  I tend to have an eclectic style as I will choose different therapy techniques to fit individual clients and their specific concerns.  I encourage clients to feel empowered so that they can be comfortable with expressing themselves and make beneficial changes in their life.  I value collaboration in the therapy relationship and check in with clients on their comfort level with our plans.

I look forward to meeting you and learning how I can best assist you in addressing your concerns and meeting your goals.
