Life is challenging. We all desire to be understood and recognized for who we are. We want to love and be loved, we want to be happy, healthy and creative. But all too often anxiety, depression and other negative emotions and behaviors make it difficult to live life to the fullest. I work with you to help you define your goals and work toward positive change.

  • Individuals 18 and older
  • Couples

  • I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience
  • I was site director of psychology and supervising psychologist for staff psychologists and psychologists in training at the North Central Bronx Hospital
  • I am trained in both hypnosis and group psychotherapy
  • For seven years I ran a intensive day treatment program for addicts and alcoholics.
  • I’ve taught graduate level courses in the area of substance abuse and have conducted experiential groups and workshops in hypnosis.

  • Individual Psychodynamic psychotherapy:  A strong therapeutic relationship is of primary importance in healing.  I listen carefully and empathically, pay close attention to feelings and explore internal conflicts. In this way I help you to gain insight into how negative past experiences can interfere with life in the present which, I believe, leads to lasting change.
  • Hypnotherapy:  A powerful tool that utilizes the mind’s innate abilities to heal itself. Hypnosis effectively addresses stress, anxiety, low self-esteem and self-destructive behaviors such as smoking.

  • Depression, Anxiety and Stress: We’ve all experienced these feelings at one time or another, this is normal. But when depression and anxiety begin to interfere with our ability to function from day to day it’s time to speak with someone who can help you cope, better understand and find solutions to the problem.
  • Substance abuse and self-destructive behaviors:  Are behaviors such as the excessive use of alcohol and/or drugs, gambling or the use of pornography beginning to impact your life in negative ways? Do you miss days of work recovering from hangovers? Are people close to you expressing concern? Do you need to quit or can you moderate your behavior? In working together we’ll look closely at these questions and come up with strategies to address the problem that feels right to you.
  • Relationships:  There are many reasons why good relationships devolve into anger, resentment and feelings of alienation. My goal in working with couples is to help open up lines of communication in a safe environment so that they can begin to see where things have broken down, and how things can improve.
  • Stage of life issues:  Each stage of life comes with its own set of challenges, whether it’s deciding on a career path, dealing with the stresses of dating, or tackling the demands of parenthood and middle age. I see my role as a supporter who can help you make sense of the challenges that arise at each stage.

  • Fees range from $150 to $200 per individual, 45 minute sessions and $225 for a one hour couples session.
  • I work on a sliding scale for those in need.

  • I also accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and Cigna insurance, or will provide an invoice for those with other plans or flex spending accounts.
