Michael Thaden is a native of central California, born in San Francisco as legend has it, “under the Golden Gate
Bridge”.  He somehow survived this feat and grew up in Sacramento.  He was an energetic, playful child who loved music but preferred outdoor activity to sitting still.  While this initially made school difficult, he had the good fortune of being influenced by some very devoted teachers.  He attended and graduated from Del Campo High School where he developed better study habits, and came to excel in Chemistry.

Michael's love of the outdoors has deep spiritual roots and continues to serve as an important healing resource.  His evolution from interests in fine art photography, long distance running, backpacking, and nutrition to the field of mental health fit well as Registered Art Therapist with a Somatic Psychotherapy focus.  His initial fantasy of becoming a forrest ranger led him to Humboldt State University, initially majoring in Chemistry, and gradually changed his focus to studies in Psychology, Philosophy, and Art.  He eared his Master's Degree from C.S.U.S. in Counselor Education, Marriage & Family Therapy/Art Therapy.

Michael has worked as a therapist inSacramento and the surrounding neighborhoods of Carmichael, Citrus Heights, and Fair Oaks for over twenty years in a variety of school and residential treatment settings, and has maintained a private practice since 1997.  Michael's practice has been profoundly shaped by the need to address and resolve complex attachment and trauma.  He utilizes several modern therapeutic tools which strengthen access to natural healing potential of body mind and spiritual connection.  He has worked with adolescents, adults, couples, and families impacted by grief/loss, trauma, domestic violence, sexual abuse, chemical/co-dependency, compulsive behavior, anger/impulse control problems, and life role transitions.
