Therapy is A chance for growth, a chance for happiness, a chance for a life worth living.

I am a board-certified licensed mental health counselor in New York, practicing in the Queens-based area. I have a Bachelors in psychology, and Masters in Mental Health Counseling both from St.John's University, a CACREP Accredited University. I provide treatment to individuals, couples, and families, My Areas of specialized training include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT), Child and Family Therapy, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Personal Coaching, Personality Disorders, Crisis management, Vocational Guidance, Trauma Issues, and Addictions.

What was your path to becoming a therapist?

It feels authentic and genuine for me to be in the position of providing warmth, empathy, and compassion to those who are ready to heal. As we know in order to understand pain we must have gone through it. From an early age I have faced hardships which led me to being a devoted counselor that I am today. I am able to connect with others in a non judgemental manner due to realizing that everyone of us is fallible.I love what I do so much and I feel meaning and purpose by helping others achieve inner peace. It pains me to see people suffer, but I am not afraid of emotion. Through this my personal hardships and training and I empower others to not be afraid to take risks or face challenges.

What should someone know about working with you?

Negativity dampens our spirits. Positivity lifts them up. Through this experience you will gain the ability to focus on uplifting thoughts in any situation and become the best version of yourself. This will occur within a trusting, mutually respectful, environment. My mission is to create a counseling environment that feels safe where clients are able to be their authentic selves while expressing complete vulnerability.Therapy is not an easy process but anything that is a quick relief will not last long. I always say “rome was not built in one day” and quick fixes do not last. As we know the harder the work the bigger the payout.

What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?

There are many advantages to continuing education beyond just meeting a requirement required by the state. When it comes to mental health professionals it is important to stay on top of the latest research and innovative practices by continuing your education as a mental health provider. A competent counselor will be aware that counseling means not only practising, but learning about the ever-changing developments in the field, which is a lifelong process.

How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?I believe in the rights and dignity of human beings, that all people have meaning and purpose, and that no individual is without value regardless of who you are or where you've been.believe these principles are at the heart of every effective clinical interaction.I believe that each individual has purpose, meaning, and objective value. People are not born as merely empty vessels upon which a society or government grants rights and value to. Instead, simply by virtue of being a human being, you have inherent value, purpose, and meaning. this means as you're counselor I will treat you with dignity, respect, and with genuine concern for your well-being. Self-awareness is perhaps one of the best tools you can use to avoid imposing your values on clients.

What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?

A staggering number of people with mental health conditions report that their needs are not being met. assessments performed via telehealth lead to benefits outcomes that are comparable to in-person treatment. A growing number of controlled trials are providing more insight into the potential of telepsychiatry to deliver quality care while lowering costs. The greatest reductions in cost are associated with diminished travel time, better coordination of care, and early intervention.

Have you done any research-based work that you found particularly exciting? How does it inform your practice today?

As a member of the Chi Sigma Lota , a national counseling honor society I have been exposed to the evidenced based practices. Through evidenced-based approaches, I aim to tailor our treatment specific to the needs of each individual. I believe in helping individuals build on their strengths, gain insight, and develop effective coping skills.

I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety, and I’ve worked with many therapists in the past, often feeling like I wasn’t getting anywhere. We’ve developed goals, and we work towards those during every session, her ability to communicate steps to improve is wonderful.”
