This is my cup of tea: I have over 10 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families in home, schools, and family-focused organizations. I have walked side by side with individuals and couples through distress, intimacy concerns, trauma, military placements, and everyday stress and anxiety.  I provided clinical services through Safehome Domestic Violence Shelter, focusing on trauma, safety, healthy relationships, self-esteem and empowerment, sand-tray therapy, and children's therapy.

My Approach: When my clients first come in, I want them to feel comfortable and at ease.  Pouring your life story and specific concerns out to a stranger is not an easy task.  You deserve to be heard and understood, and that is my first step. I am genuinely curious about the many aspects and factors going on in your life.

I typically find that most of our problems are multi-faceted. This is where most clients get stuck prior to coming to therapy. I'm guessing this is not the first time you have addressed your struggle, and most likely you have exhausted all options.  Believe it or not, you have already started half the work. Usually, there are a few other factors to consider or maybe an underlying core issue that is preventing it from coming full circle. Therefore, it requires us to understand and overcome the multiple facets that contribute to the problem, and then move forward to try and create a more effective change.  I want to not only help them understand and be empowered, yet also be educated and understand how to prevent the problem from re-occurring. Most importantly, I want to create a supportive relationship with clients, so they feel well-equipped to take on the parts of their lives that are struggling.

Education: Being a family therapist has been a lifelong passion of mine, and it is for that reason I have a natural understanding of behaviors, feelings, and interactions.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Family Studies and Human Services with a Minor in American Ethnic Studies through Kansas State University.  I pursued higher education in North Carolina through Pfeiffer University, and I obtained my Master's of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy through Friends University.
