   My intention

   I have a strong belief that each person has gifts that are unique to them, and that by bravely exploring our wounds, challenges, conflicts, and struggles, we can begin to live more from our natural wholeness, including our gifts and creativity.
 
   I provide a warm and relaxed space in which to explore and heal; sometimes, it can even be light-hearted and humorous. I am a trauma-informed therapist, meaning that I have the knowledge of what it takes to keep therapy as grounded and emotionally safe as it needs to be, while still getting to the roots of problems and moving toward change.
 
   Mind, Body, Spirit, and Emotions
    I am mindful of the different ways people take in and process information, and I seek to ensure that the person in front of me is able to absorb our work together in ways that are meaningful for them, so that the effects can begin transfer into their life outside of my office.
 
   Very few of us living in this culture are taught to be able to fully feel, regulate, and process painful or difficult emotions. Unfortunately, this only leads to confusion, numbness, addictive behaviors, depression and anxiety, and looping patterns of thoughts, behaviors, and relating with others.

   How I work 
   Though I draw from years of  work experience and exposure to many therapy methods, healing traditions, education, and training, I currently work most from:
  • Hakomi Mindfulness-Centered Somatic Psychotherapy 
  • Focussing-Oriented Therapy 
  • Internal Family Systems Therapy 

   Hakomi Mindfulness-Centered Somatic Psychotherapy and Focusing-Oriented Therapy both use mindfulness (awareness of the quality of the present moment) and awareness of body sensations as a link to greater self-understanding, which I have found to be extremely useful to the therapy process.
 
   Internal Family Systems Therapy is based on the idea that it is natural for us to have many different parts to ourselves, and that sometimes these parts will come into conflict with each other, and get in the way of what we - at our core - most want and need. Identifying and working with the various parts of ourselves leads to greater harmony and clarity in coping with life and getting our needs met.
 
    I have found that I am able blend these methods seamlessly into my sessions with clients for maximum benefit.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from University of Calgary
  • Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University
  • Registered Social Worker with Alberta College of Social Workers
