Hi and welcome! Our busy lives demand that we are always in motion. We are always on the go, preparing for what's coming up next, or taking a minute to catch our breath. My main goal is to help clients find a healthy balance between their mental, emotional, and physical health.
I am a:
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor
- National Certified Counselor
- Master's Degree in Counselor Education with an Emphasis in Mental Health Counseling from SUNY Brockport
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from SUNY Buffalo
I aim to help you create a still mind for your active body. I am able to help with all types of emotions and challenges, and I specialize in and can help with the following:
- Body Image issues
- Weight Loss Goals and Maintenance
- Life Transitions
- Those Who Live an Active lifestyle
- Those Who Wish to Pursue a More Active Lifestyle
Whatever brings you here, I'd be happy to learn more about you and begin working with you. I will provide therapy in a way that will best serve you and your needs.
I place a great deal of emphasis on developing the therapeutic relationship with the client. With the right relationship, clients can feel empowered to make positive changes.
My therapeutic approach is very eclectic. I believe that each individual can benefit most from a different approach. First and foremost, I begin from a client-centered approach. I believe that the client is the expert in their own problems and the therapist is there to guide the client to finding solutions and empower them. I believe in “walking alongside” the client throughout the therapy process. I find that utilizing a holistic approach is most beneficial so that the client and I can address all areas of their life that are being impacted. I encourage clients to reflect on their environment and relationships that may impact their mental health.
My approach includes the use of:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Solution Focused Therapy
- Behavioral Interventions
- Interpersonal Therapy
- Insight-Oriented Therapy
- Relational-Cultural theory
- Reality Feed-Back
- Narrative Therapy
I encourage clients to focus on the here and now, and overcoming barriers that hinder them from moving forward. However, I also believe that making connections to the past can also be helpful in gaining insight to their current situation. Lastly, I encourage clients to engage in a type of exercise or meaningful activity that fits their lifestyle.
Usually, clients tend to see progress within 8-10 weekly sessions.
I have a laid back style, and I provide support, encouragement, compassion, and direct feedback in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.
I have a special interest in fitness, exercise, the brain, and mental health. While fitness and exercise are an important part of my life, I have felt the joys and inner struggles that it can bring. I love helping others and helping them to see the beauty that lies on the inside and outside.
My husband and I have three dogs (2 shepherds and a Doberman). I have started to run with the Doberman and find it to be such a great bonding experience for him and I. I love having him as a running partner!
If you believe that you and I might be a good fit, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'd be happy to learn more about you and help in any way I can!
