Do you feel like you can no longer ignore what you are feeling on the inside? Do you feel unbalanced between your emotional, mental, and physical health? Is the way that you're feeling getting in the way of daily roles and responsibilities? Navigating these challenges alone can feel overwhelming, and reaching out for help can be frightening. I understand the thought, "I should be strong enough to handle this on my own". Starting therapy is a sign of strength, not weakness. Whatever brings you here, I'd be happy to learn more about you and begin working with you. I will provide therapy in a way that will best serve you and your needs.
I place a great deal of emphasis on developing the therapeutic relationship with the client. With the right relationship, clients can feel empowered to make positive changes.
My therapeutic approach is very eclectic. I believe that each individual can benefit most from a different approach. First and foremost, I begin from a client-centered approach. I believe that the client is the expert in their own problems and the therapist is there to guide the client to finding solutions and empower them. I believe in “walking alongside” the client throughout the therapy process. I find that utilizing a holistic approach is most beneficial so that the client and I can address all areas of their life that are being impacted. I encourage clients to reflect on their environment and relationships that may impact their mental health.
My approach includes the use of:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Solution Focused Therapy
- Behavioral Interventions
- Interpersonal Therapy
- Insight-Oriented Therapy
- Relational-Cultural theory
- Reality Feed-Back
- Narrative Therapy
I encourage clients to focus on the here and now, and overcoming barriers that hinder them from moving forward. However, I also believe that making connections to the past can also be helpful in gaining insight to their current situation. Lastly, I encourage clients to engage in a type of exercise or meaningful activity that fits their lifestyle.
Usually, clients tend to see progress within 8-10 weekly sessions.
I have a laid back style, and I provide support, encouragement, compassion, and direct feedback in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.
I have a special interest in fitness, exercise, the brain, and mental health. While fitness and exercise are an important part of my life, I have felt the joys and inner struggles that it can bring. I love helping others and helping them to see the beauty that lies on the inside and outside.
My husband and I have three dogs (2 German Shepherds and a Doberman). I have started to run with the Doberman and find it to be such a great bonding experience for him and I. I love having him as a running partner!
If you believe that you and I might be a good fit, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'd be happy to learn more about you and help in any way I can!
