I use a down to earth approach that provides practical ways for managing issues and problems. I draw from my life experience to help you with crisis issues, while building a bond of trust that enables the work to move to a deeper level, where you encounter the roadblocks impacting your life. I do this through individual, couples and group therapy.
My work also extends to addressing the challenges occurring in your relationships. I help couples and families achieve a safe space to develop genuine kinship with each other. This includes helping couples avoid power struggles and distancing behaviors in order to find a satisfying connection with each other.

About Paul

Paul has lived with his family in Tacoma since 1998.  Before that, he lived in New York City, Seattle, Dallas and Chicago, mingling with a broad spectrum of cultures.  He has had several careers in both the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds.  He has been actively involved in a church community for most of his life, and also practicing Yoga and Tai Chi for over 25 years.  He enjoys being outdoors, hanging out with his family, and listening to (and lately learning) jazz.  All of this contributes to a rich background from which he draws real world experience for his work as a therapist and counselor.  He is comfortable working with a wide variety of people and viewpoints within the context of multiple cultures.

Paul's Approach

Paul uses a common sense and down to earth approach to counseling and psychotherapy that provides practical ways for managing issues and problems. He draws from his life experience to facilitate stabilizing clients.  He builds strong trust while doing this, allowing the work to move to a deeper level, where clients learn about the particular dynamics that are impacting their lives in negative ways. He helps them accept themselves as unique and valuable, within their own spiritual beliefs, sexual/gender orientation, or cultural context, while embracing the possibilities for profound change in their life. He works with clients to create genuine closeness with themselves and with those they love. He draws from eclectic modalities, including Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems, Existential, and Mindfulness. Paul’s life experience provides him with a broad and deep palette from which to draw his perspectives for helping clients make changes towards a deeper, more connected and meaningful life.
