Too often we go through life passively accepting the negative experiences we suffer without taking ownership of our way of life. With care and understanding, Phil will be "in your corner" while helping you become proactive in your life.
Counseling is a powerful first step in taking control of the direction in your life. From childhood, you may have felt that you are a victim of circumstances. Now is the time to take a major, positive action to be in control. It is up to you to decide the changes you want in your life, the goals you want to set, and the life you want to live. Phil has the specialized training to help you analyze your past and move toward a future of your own design.  It is crucial to gain an understanding of how our "automatic" reactions and emotional responses affect the way we behave. Phil will help you learn the skill of deciding how you are going to react to the inevitable difficulties that arise in life while taking the time and effort to set goals and work toward your desired outcome. Therapy is a truly life-changing process. Making the decision to pursue counseling does not mean you are weak. It means you are tapping into your strength and bravery and making a choice to embrace your vulnerability in order to open yourself to true understanding and self awareness. Phil brings warmth and humor while helping you confront the roadblocks that are holding you back from change. He holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grace College in Indiana. He has specific expertise in working with adolescents and teens struggling with home and school issues. Additionally, he has significant experience working with individuals, couples, families, and college students in a variety of settings. Phil is a member of several professional organizations, including: American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT)American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC)American Counseling Association (ACA)American Mental Health Counseling Association (AMHCA)American Psychological Association (APA)Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD)Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW)Colorado Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT)Colorado Association of Psychotherapists (CAP)Colorado Counseling Association (CCA)Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH)
