I was drawn to helping people who had experienced trauma early in my training as a graduate student and an intern. Prior to opening my private practice, I worked with children and
adolescents in several different capacities and settings. I led groups and saw individual clients on
behalf of the Austin Center for Attitudinal Healing, the YWCA, Travis County
Juvenile Court, Covington Middle School, Clint Small Middle School, Mendez
Middle School, Crockett High School, Travis High School, GENaustin, Rio Grande
Counseling Center, and Settlement Home, a residential treatment center for
children who are survivors of abuse and neglect.Working with
clients who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, and difficulty managing their intense emotions, has
strengthened my belief in our ability as human beings to face extremely
difficult life circumstances and hardships and come to terms with them. I work with my clients in the context of a safe
space so that they can get their lives back on track and move forward. I am trained in EMDR. The goal of EMDR therapy is to help you process the experiences that are causing problems so that you develop emotions, understanding, and perspectives that lead to healthy behaviors and interactions. EMDR can be used to treat a variety of therapeutic issues across the lifespan. I have used EMDR to treat adults who are currently experiencing depression and anxiety. Often the clients I see have a history of traumatic experiences from childhood or at other times during their lives.
I support people of all ages who are in the process of navigating life-changing events and hardships or who are seeking a new path for other reasons. We look at how they ended up
where they are and we work together to create a new path that is more meaningful and more fulfilling.
Regardless of age or circumstances, I help each of my clients find his or her own voice.
