How Does Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Work?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a short-term, skills-oriented therapy that will help you learn the tools to resolve anxiety and depression. During our time together, I can help you learn many new skills. I can help you learn mindfulness and meditation exercises, identify unhelpful thinking patterns, journal your thoughts and feelings, complete exposure based exercises, learn progressive muscle relaxation, experience guided imagery, re-engage in hobbies and interests through behavioural activation, and complete gradual exposure exercises to overcome fear. With Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I can help you change patterns of thinking and behaviour that maintain anxiety so you can feel less anxious and depressed, cultivate hope for the future and improve your relationships.
Academic and Clinical Experience
I have helped many adult clients in the Okanagan area resolve anxiety and depression. I have a Master of Social Work degree from the University of British Columbia. I have additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I have over a decade of clinical experience working in the field of adolescent and adult psychiatry in hospital and community settings.
