I believe a counselor's role is to lay the foundation for the
path that you choose to walk. During this journey it is the counselor's role to
help guide you and help you reach your goals.
Let's face it, life is difficult! Everyone struggles from time to time. During these difficult times we may feel scared, alone, and helpless. I strive to create a safe place where you can create new meaning out of your experiences. This journey may involve creating more intimate and meaningful relationships, learning healthier ways to cope with life stressors, gaining a better understanding of yourself and your relationships with others, and developing new strategies to resolve conflict.
I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). My work with couples using the EFT model focuses on adult attachment and repairing the bonds between two people. According to leading couples therapist Dr. Sue Johnson, 70% - 75% of couples move into recovery and 90% of couples show significant improvements after 8-20 sessions of EFT. Everyone has relationship struggles and it is important to find comfort in each other, feel understood, and reconnect.
My approach with individuals and families mainly focuses on Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
