Welcome to Safe Haven Counselling, a group practice helping individuals and couples heal from the inside out.

Are you and your partner stuck in a cycle of conflict that feels impossible to get out of?  Does one of you withdraw or shut down while the other just wants to talk things out?  If it feels like you are stuck in a rut and having the same arguments over and over again, counselling can help. We help both couples and individuals struggling in relationship to each other and to themselves. Problems in our relationships often stem from problems within, such as trauma and attachment wounds. You may be feeling anxious, lonely or depressed and this is affecting your confidence and how you relate to your partner, friends and family.
All of our counsellors work from an attachment-based perspective, which draws on your first experiences with your primary caregiver as an infant and child. Attachment theory has proven to be one of the most useful and revealing discoveries in human psychology and provides foundational awareness for how and why we relate to others and ourselves as we do.

If you are dealing with any of the following,  Safe Haven Counselling can help....
  • Divorce/the end of a long-term love relationship
  • Relationship conflict (including: infidelity, communication issues, intimacy problems)
  • Depression and/or anxiety
  • Grief, due to any loss or major life change
  • Midlife transitions (menopause, empty nesting, marriage problems, career changes)
  • Self-esteem and identity issues

Why work with us?
Studies show that the relationship between counsellor and client is the most important determining factor for success. We are a small team of very caring and compassionate people and truly care for our clients and their wellbeing.  There are many counsellors out there to choose from and the process of finding the right one can be both daunting and expensive. For this reason, we offer a free 15 minute consultation either in person or via telephone so you can determine whether any of our counsellors are the right fit for you.  If we work together you can expect the following:
  • Empathic and non-judgemental care
  • Full one-hour sessions
  • Exploration of how your life experiences impact who you are today
  • Attention to the problem from a mind/body/soul perspective
  • A focus on your strengths and values
  • A non-biased perspective, particularly in couples work
  • A warm, friendly, and caring relationship

 Education
All of our counsellors hold a masters degree in Counselling Psychology and bring many years of experience to our work.
