Discomfort can lead many people to feel helpless and hopeless.  This same discomfort can be a catalyst toward positive growth and change.  Sam Narby’s core belief is that we all have the capacity within ourselves to heal, grow, and find deeper meaning in our lives.

Therapy with Sam provides an authentic, non-judgmental, and encouraging environment to speed up this process of change.

Sam is just as passionate about developing himself both personally and professionally as he is about helping others.  He has worked with people from all walks of life and takes pride in his ability to connect with others and use that connection to provide new experiences for his clients which lead to endless possibilities.

Sam is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and holds a Master of Social Work Degree from Syracuse University with a focus on therapy with individuals, families, and groups.  He also earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Binghamton University.  Experience in social work provides him with the understanding that people are not just individuals but also part of a larger family, community, and societal system that affects the context of thoughts, beliefs, and behavioral patterns.

Sam began his career working at an outpatient mental health facility as a case manager and clinician with community members who struggled with both substance abuse/dependency and mental health issues.  In 2012, he moved from upstate New York to Fort Collins to accept a position as a Post Master’s Fellow at Colorado State University’s counseling center which provided him extensive training and experience working with a diverse group of students in both individual and group settings.  He has additional experience collaborating with medical providers, case workers, courts, probation officers, and other therapists and professionals to ensure the best care for his clients.

Sam has helped couples and families with communication, relational difficulties, boundaries, attachment issues, codependency, sexuality and intimacy issues, dating and breakups, divorce and divorce recovery, parenting, and pre-marriage counseling.

Sam is experienced in helping clients with addictions, alcohol/substance abuse issues, anxiety, depression, anger management, assertiveness training, self-esteem, obesity and weight loss, stress related issues, career changes/career counseling, grief & loss, life coaching, existential concerns, and restoring meaning to life.

Sam has several professional affiliations, including American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), American Counseling Association (ACA), American Mental Health Counseling Association (AMHCA), American Psychological Association (APA), Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD), Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW), International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC), and National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
