Are you looking for a different kind of counselling than being a patient analyzed through a lens of pathology? If so, maybe we should connect. I would be your companion in a collaborative adventure of self-discovery, not a distant observer that would diagnose and treat your symptoms. My approach goes beyond conventional forms of counselling to foster your development towards wholeness and drive toward self-actualization. It works to expand your ways of knowing and transform you into higher ways of being in your relationships and world.

Bring to light what's within so it doesn't work against you in the dark. Then see who you truly are. This may require working in your emotional realm to clear repressed feelings that have been keeping you small. Grief? Anger? Resentment? Maybe humility in coming to new truth, as you look deep into and integrate your shadow. As the great mystic and founder of analytical psychology, Carl Jung said, “No tree can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell”. That means healing could entail experiencing deeply buried emotions in order for you to release judgments and embrace reality. There you can find inner peace.

I take your spiritual beliefs seriously and welcome their discussion because it may be essential to your well-being. That could mean exploring your most fundamental notions and how they are directing you in life. Knowing precisely what you believe and why gives you faith in your choices and conviction in your actions, so the ground you stand on is unshakable. Belief systems that are unconscious, nebulous, or cannot stand scrutiny; obscure your perception, waste your power, and lead you down a path of false intent. I invite clients of all belief systems to come to their own understandings and move forward based on their insights.
My name is Shane Stebanuk and I am a registered professional counsellor with the Canadian Professional Counsellor's Association. I have special training in the fields of psychology, religion, and consciousness studies that has provided for my unique approach to counselling. In contrast to the dismal view of scientific materialism, I believe the universe is interconnected, living, and intelligent; and that everyone has purpose that transcends their physical existence. Therefore, I utilize spiritual and philosophical elements in my practice, as well as psychological, to nurture consciousness toward healing and evolution. This includes techniques drawn from psychoanalytic, Jungian, existential, Gestalt, cognitive-behavioural, and developmental schools of psychology integrated within a transpersonal framework.
