About Me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider and National Certified Counselor. Over the course of my career, I have served as a Family Intervention Specialist and Mental Health Therapist, Adult Mental Health Case Manager, Addictions Counselor, and Lead Adolescent Female Counselor and Mental Health Technician Supervisor with alcohol and substance abuse residential facilities and inpatient and outpatient treatment centers. I specialize in alcohol and substance abuse, chemical dependency, addictions, trauma, sexual assault and human trafficking, domestic violence, anxiety, mood disorders, and anger and impulse control. Shortly after acquiring my degree in Professional Counseling, I worked as a Director of Intake and Referrals with a psychiatric residential treatment center and Clinical Therapist for a counseling private practice. Additionally, I am an Education Specialist and licensed and certified Special Education Teacher with expertise in autism, learning disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity (ADHD) disorders/other health Impairments, intellectual disabilities/cognitive impairments, and emotional disturbance, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), functional behavioral assessments, and behavior intervention plans. I have a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling and currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership.

The Road to Recovery:  Our Counseling Journey
My counseling style encompasses cognitive behavioral therapy, reality theory and choice therapy, and existentialism. It is reinvigorating and empowering for clients to build awareness of their effective, productive, and competent choices that drive treatment goals. Clients have the choice to shape cognitive thoughts, actions, and choices. There is this sense of internal control that clients feel accountable and in the driver’s seat of their lifestyles. The goal is to achieve the very needs and desires that warrant fulfilling and healthy life experiences and short-term and long-term goals that hearten constructive behaviors. Every human being has the potential to build satisfactory relationships. Symptoms and problems no longer have to contribute to emotional turmoil and distress. I encourage clients to avoid self-defeating beliefs and escape criticism, blame, and complaints that distort their mental and emotional well-being.   Together, we will work towards preventing harmful external control behaviors that destroy our innermost safety, security, and contentment. In the client-therapist relationship, I serve as a non-judgmental passenger. I will promote self-actualizing behaviors that foster connections to other significant people.  If the choice of behaviors are not building strong connections, then I will help you discover new ways to build strength-based and stronger relationships. It’s the behaviors that need to be retaught, not the individual. Additionally, we will develop specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely (SMART) goals and workable plans that remove the very obstacles that drove you to therapy.
