Journey Counselling

Teri Varcoe, MSW, RSW

About Me:

I have a private counselling practice in my home, accessible for those with mobility challenges, in the Cedar Hill area of Saanich in Victoria, British Columbia. I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree with over sixteen years of experience working with individuals, couples and families experiencing a wide variety of challenges.

A significant aspect of my practice experience involves counselling individuals and family caregivers affected by disability, chronic health issues and terminal illness including, not limited, to dementia. There are many profound transitions people face throughout life and need not face them alone.

As human beings, we have an innate capacity for growth and making meaning of our experiences including the losses/changes we face along our journey in life. My approach varies depending on your unique needs and circumstances to support you to feel empowered as you continue to learn to identify and engage your strengths, options, and resources.

Common Challenges:

  • Stress Management
  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Grief & Loss
  • Relationships & Interpersonal Communication
  • Caregiver Burden
  • Overwhelmed by health and home care systems

Benefits of Counselling:

  • Enhance coping skills
  • Greater self-awareness
  • Gain insight and a new perspective about the issues you are struggling with
  • Experience the therapeutic effect of telling your story in a safe, non-judgemental space
  • Identify and engage your strengths and resources
  • Learn to identify and reframe distorted thought patterns
  • Become knowledgeable about community resources relevant to you and your family
