I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in North Carolina. I'm
also board certified as a Nationally Certified Counselor. I have my
Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Appalachian State University & my
Master's of Arts degree in Marriage & Family Therapy (which includes a degree in Professional Counseling) from Richmont
Graduate University in Atlanta, Georgia. See my website for more information. My clinical experience includes counseling adolescents, adults,
couples & families. I have expertise in the areas of depression &
mood disorders, anxiety disorders, social anxiety & panic, grief &
loss, trauma, sexual abuse, & women's issues. One area of specialization I have is in working with women experiencing difficulty in their relationships; I provide them support & tools to better their relationships, whether their partner is willing to attend therapy or not.
Services I provide are: individual, couples & family counseling. I also offer expertise in
Christian Counseling for those who desire to incorporate their faith
into therapy or for those who have questions about their beliefs. I began my work as a Professional Counselor in June 2005. I was an individual and group therapist for several years in North
Georgia at a Community Mental Health Center working with adults
experiencing a wide range of DSM diagnoses. In this setting I worked as
part of a team alongside psychiatrists, nurses, social workers,
community support professionals & other therapists. I also worked for several years at a Residential Group Home, School & Counseling Center outside of Raleigh for hurting & troubled
teenage girls. There I worked as an individual, marital, family &
group therapist to restore the emotional & relational struggles
experienced by the teenagers & their families.
I was a therapist at a local Counseling Center from December 2008
through August 2010 where I worked as an individual, marital & family
therapist. In August 2010, I ventured into my own Private Practice where
I am now! I greatly enjoy being a therapist & I have been passionate about
the counseling process since college. Graduate school was an opportunity
to focus my passion & interest into Marriage & Family Therapy.
As a therapist, I greatly enjoy working with individuals, families & couples in their
relationship struggles so that each person has the chance to grow
towards being a healthy individual & so that each family & couple
have the opportunity to grow into a healthy & intimate relationship.
I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors &
the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina as well as the American Counseling Association. I live in Raleigh with my husband Ryan.
See my website for more detailed information about my counseling philosophy, my statement of faith & my disclosure statement which gives further details about my practice! If you choose, I look forward to talking with you soon!
