Addiction refers to a state of dependence that an individual can develop on a substance, such as nicotine or alcohol, or on a behavior, such as gambling in order to achieve a desired effect such as euphoria or sedation. The addicted individual usually grows to need more of a given substance or behavior to create the desired effect. This process is called “building tolerance”. The abuse of the substance or behavior leads to a deterioration in the individuals health and functioning. They rationalize their self-destructive behavior in order to justify continued addictive behavior. Capital Counseling treats problem and compulsive disorders using a unique fellowship model of treatment involving group and individual counseling

As creatures of habit and as human beings with stress and frustration and emotional pain we can easily get into a pattern of taking some brain/mood altering substance or behavior(such as cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, sex, over exercise) that makes us feel good for the moment and escape our problems. Particularly if addiction runs in the family we can become addicted and lose control. Addiction seems to take over and run our life. Denial is a major symptom of addiction where we sometimes think we have control and can stop when, in fact, we can’t. My approach to helping people deal with their addiction is to make sure they participate in a detox and rehabilitation program either as an inpatient

The duality of bipolar depression when paired with toxic substance alcohol or narcotic or niccotine and/or caffeine or caffeinad beverages is so detrimental to our growth as students, it causes a dead!y spiritual, and painfully tedious death wish. Christian thinking which reduces Frivolity and cuts the cost of psychotropic drugs by half eliminates the middleman, and is effective in restoration natural function!

Addiction is a broad based term. When I use it, I include alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, food, and the internet. These addictions are all characterized by obsessions about use, compulsive acting out, and downward progression in the individuals's life. Treatment begins with the person seeing that they have a problem, which is not always easy. The next step is developing a plan to help the person stop the addiction. Much care has to be taken to address the issues of staying stopped. These include triggers and lifestyle changes. The addict also has to develop or re-engage with support systems. I help someone with all of these steps.
