Stress & Anxiety

Philip Kolba, MA

Online Therapist / Coach

Everyone experiences anxiety at some point, but for some the anxiety is so frequent or intense that it interferes with their lives or even triggers panic attacks. I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help my clients get a sense of control over their own anxiety. We collaborate to learn skills to reduce the frequency or intensity of the anxious feelings, to tolerate the anxiety when it does occur so they can still function through it, and to practice habits that reduce stress and improve general mental health.

If you find yourself relationships, work, school - stress may be emotionally "stretching" what had been a healthy tolerance-set. Life happens, and unfortunately so does intense emotional "push back." Sometimes temperament sets us up for a steeper reaction. For others, early wounding and a history of unsatisfactory family bonding creates unresolved tension. Much of this energy can be processed, clarified and worked through. But more dramatic and destructive pieces of our past can also haunt our functioning. Checking into the "why's" and "wherefore's'" of emotional fallout creates a base of understanding and release which can be powerful - it's a journey worth sharing!

Victor Wiesner, PhD, LPC, NCC, CCMHC

Licensed Professional Counselor

25301 Borough Park Drive, Suite 129, The Woodlands, TX 77380

Before receiving my doctorate, I did an internship at the largest public mental health clinic in North Texas. I volunteered at Parkland Psychiatric Emergency Room on the overnight shift on Sunday nights for 7 months in1995. There I learned to handle crisis situations of the utmost kind. Many cases were serious suicide attempts or active psychosis. I have been to 3 separate training seminars on hypnosis. Hypnosis is NOT frequently used in my office and is always optional but it can be a means of reducing anxiety and stress. We can learn to not upset ourselves and to relax. I will take an in-depth and broad comprehensive approach that involve no medications. There are a plethora of tools.

Anxiety can be crippling. And trying to manage it as you go about your daily life can be exhausting. It takes a multi-faceted approach to get past it. It may take medication, exercise, better nutrition, a physical exam to rule out different physical causes, as well as therapy. Together you and I will work out a plan and then learn new ways of thinking and new ways of managing your day-to-day activities. Give me a call and let's get started.
