Our career can play a huge role in our life as we devote a large amount of our time and energy to it and often seek a sense of purpose and fulfillment. I have personally made a number of scary career transitions while working to fulfill my potential and find joy in what I do and these scary changes that often included working through paralyzing fear and having to get quite creative made me very passionate about supporting others on a similar quest to find more fulfillment in your work and daily life.

We spend up to 1/3 of our life in our careers!! As a former Human Resources Manager this is an area that is really exciting. Not only will I help you identify your skill set, but help you identify your passion, your purpose and your personality type that will help you see what career is best suited to you. I can also help you identify and develop areas that will help you expand your interviewing skills, your social media profile, your resume and your confidence and also understand the hiring climate that you are in.

My approach to career counselling and planning is taken from the now famous resource Designing Your Life. We apply Design Thinking to reframe obstacles to opportunities in creative ways that may be impossible to imagine now. Then we design plans to give you the inspiration and practical experiences that prove what career decision will bring you the greatest happiness, fulfillment, and reward.

Career is more than a job to make money and pay the bills. To incorporate an SFBT approach to help clients identify their own resiliency from a strength based perspective. To use positive psychology language and focus on solution when clients may be wanting to explore other careers or feel stuck in their current one. To assist clients remember and identify past adversities and their history of overcoming situational challenges.

We utilize motivational interviewing and value worksheets as tools to provide comprehensive support to clients who are navigating career choices. Our skilled counselors utilize this technique to facilitate conversations that empower clients to identify their personal values, goals, and motivations. By exploring their intrinsic motivations and clarifying their career aspirations, clients gain insight into their priorities and desires, enabling them to make informed and meaningful decisions.

It is one thing to embark on a new career path, and a whole other to find the sweet spot of purpose, contribution, vitality and practical stability that leads to a really fulfilling vocation. We offer Type B tools and evaluations to evaluate behavior, career aspirations, personality traits, personal preference, and career counselling. We offer standardized tests to evaluate each individual in order to assist you in identifying patterns, beliefs, and the origin of your thoughts and desires as a human. Having worked in the finance industry for many years, I help clients remove their blocks, create clarity and help with work towards their career(dream job). My treatment involves having the client work on: financial plan that includes their goals. We go through obstacles and mental blocks; and their fears of success. Clients feel motivated, they learn how to build resources, change their negative beliefs to positive, and learn new skills to communicate effective.

Career counselling has progressed away from computer generated test scores and more along the lines of inquiry to individual likes and tendencies. This is the approach I adopt. Together we complete a Career Development Workbook, uncovering inclinations and passions using talking and connection to self and others as our tools. Once up to 3 career choices have been made, a referral to Workplace BC is often helpful for the next steps in market and career research for your choices.
