I use a biopsychosocial approach with an emphasis on strengths to help people within their career. Finding a satisfying career path is not just a matter of following your bliss but examining the requirements each individual has for creating a life they want balanced against the resources they have. When there isn't the resources for career change, creating a long term plans and a tool belt for resiliency is key to overcoming workplace dissatisfaction.

To incorporate an SFBT approach to help clients identify their own resiliency from a strength based perspective. To use positive psychology language and focus on solution when clients may be wanting to explore other careers or feel stuck in their current one. To assist clients remember and identify past adversities and their history of overcoming situational challenges.

It is one thing to embark on a new career path, and a whole other to find the sweet spot of purpose, contribution, vitality and practical stability that leads to a really fulfilling vocation. The latter requires the courage to allow, shape and stay with a vision and the skills to navigate the inevitable peaks and valleys in confidence that are natural to the process. It is necessary to develop the ability to structure your own time toward your goal, maintaining the stability necessary to take new opportunities and creative risks. I offer coaching for those motivated to move into this place.

While most career counselors love to give you capacity based profiles of what your talents and interests are for your best bet career choices, Grey Matters international believes that most people make predictably irrational decisions and then after making them learn way to make them fit into their identities using various types of rationalizations and strategies. My approach to career counselling and planning is taken from the now famous resource Designing Your Life. We apply Design Thinking to reframe obstacles to opportunities in creative ways that may be impossible to imagine now. Then we design plans to give you the inspiration and practical experiences that prove what career decision will bring you the greatest happiness, fulfillment, and reward.
