I work with young children identified as having learning difficulties, (ADD), (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder, or antisocial personality disorder. Each child is unique, and presents different needs. My initial focus is on finding the underlying issues contributing to their difficulties. Once these have been identified, I create a plan for resolving the issues of concern. Success is achieved when a child, with appropriate training, is able to adopt strategies for functioning more independently, maintaining more sustained focus and regulating their emotions. As counter-productive patterns are replaced over time, a child will develop new norms in behaviour and outlook.

With my many years in education I am able and skilled at working with and relating to children and adolescents. Childhood should be a time for healthy growth and development. Promoting a safe and judgment free environment is a priority and necessary for youth to be able to let their guard down and communicate openly. Together we look at areas of life that are challenging for them and identify the factors that are contributing to the difficulties they are experiencing. We then work on managing those areas more effectively by developing positive coping strategies and emotions management skills.
