They are, to a great extent, dependent upon their caregivers for their emotional, relational, and spiritual needs. Giving our young clients a voice in the family process ensures a more complete family therapy experience and reduces the chance that these sometimes unheard voices will seek more definitive methods of being seen and heard.

I feel that children experience emotional distress just like adults, but it comes out in different ways. Children often cannot vocalize their emotions and feelings; and the emotional distress they feel instead comes out in changes in their moods and behaviors. I work with children and their parents for many different issues; including anxiety, depression, trauma, aggression, underachievement, developmental delays, sensory disorders, ADD, ADHD, social appropriateness, worry, and behavioral issues. I also see children who are going through life transitions; such as divorce, relocation, death of a loved one, marriage, and traumatic experience.
