I offer Christian counseling to individuals, couples, and/or families who value their relationship with Christ and understand that he plays a primary role in the change they seek. I have found the importance of integrating spirituality and current best practice psychotherapy treatment approaches in the healing process. My therapy is grounded on sound psychotherapy approaches for change with a solid integration of Christian principles and biblical connections. Areas of change are discussed, assessed and resolved in a compassionate and collaborative manner so you can achieve spiritual. Emotional health, wellness and happiness.

I've been following Jesus for over 30 years. I'm not about Bible-bashing or quoting Scripture you already know ("Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.") with the belief you should just be able to do it because it's in the Bible - if you *really* love God. But instead I show my clients how they can live out what God and the Bible have to say about their life and relationships in realistic ways that you can actually do. My clients learn to personally experience the love, grace, mercy, gentleness, self-control, kindness, compassion, peace, and forgiveness, the Bible promises - and how to offer these experiences in their relationships with others.

Faith based therapy brings Christian values into indivual, couples and family therapy. I am with the Episcopal Church Holy Nativity in Westchester. Reverend Peter Rood presides over the congregation. I believe in a loving God who created man in his image. I believe love, peace, acceptance and tolerance are essential qualities for any Christian to embrace and we will discuss the importance of these values in daily life, especially in relationships and marriage. Christ forgives. Forgiveness is essential to anger issues, family cutoffs, marital infidelity, children who act out, or are oppositional and defiant. A strong marital unit with faith in God is essential to effective parenting.

I am a Christian and I am a psychologist. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, we learn about the importance of religion and spirituality in the lives of our clients. I treat clients of all faiths and backgrounds and do not specialize in one particular faith. Instead, I am open to my clients teaching me about their beliefs and the important role that faith plays in their lives. From the very first session, I will ask about your religious practices, if there is a faith community that is important to you, as well as determine if there is room for growth in this area. Some people find their closest friends and family in faith communities, so having a therapist who understands this is a vital piece of the therapy experience.

I do not specialize in treating Christian clients, however I do work with Christians whose background in line with teachings of tolerance. I deal with Christians who are struggling with sexual and/or gender identity issues. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore one's beliefs in God, the church, and their sexual identity or gender identity. I am have worked with these issues for over 25 years and identity issues are a specialty of mine. I am also a specialist and certified expert in the treatment of childhood abuse, trauma, sexual abuse and sexual trauma of males and females.
