I counsel clients from a christian ministry. God is there to heal, and I support clients through god's words. We pray and seek his guidance, to overcome the stress that is overwhelming you, it may be anxiety, depression, disconnect of a relationship with a loved one, lack of self-care and/or other new stress that you need counselling support. Whether it is physical or mental pain, I use many therapeutic techniques, together with Christian beliefs to help clients heal.

For many people, spirituality is an important part of their belief system and helps inform who they are. While I work with clients of all backgrounds, many clients specifically seek out therapists who share similar values and beliefs as them. In offering counselling to Christians, I do not impart my views or beliefs, but simply hold space for you to process your experiences and allow you to ask yourself questions you may not feel comfortable asking in other places.

As part of my graduate training in psychology, I also completed a Masters in Theology, as well as a pastoral practicum. My psychology training also included a focus on the integration of psychology and spirituality; how they can influence and strengthen each other. However, I never seek to inject my own beliefs into therapy! Rather, I feel it is important for me to understand how your faith and beliefs are a part of your understanding of your issues and how you can draw upon them. I try to see each of my patients as whole people, and that includes their faith and beliefs.

When your dependancy of form (body image, material world ) is gone things, people ,or conditions, that you thought you needed for your happiness now come to you with no struggle or effort on your part. My faith based approach to counselling offers help towards healing and change. I am warm and non-judgmental, able to help with issues surrounding divorce and separation, co-parenting, anxiety and depression and anger management. I use my own faith and belief to lead my efforts in the counselling process. Through the help of a trained, professional counselor you can feel supported in any life transition.

I was raised and educated in the church, and wherever I go, this background follows me. Maybe you're in the same boat: and the boat doesn't always sail smoothly, but it keeps you from drowning, all the same. When clients specifically request our counselling sessions to have a Christian focus I am able to integrate scriptual teaching & Christian counselling research within the broader field of psychotherapy assessment & treatment. When I take a Christian approach I find that therapy works towards alleviating psychological stressors while helping people to appropriate a deeper understanding & appreciation of the grace of God.

While I don't offer "Christian counselling" as a modality, I am a counsellor who is a Christian. I have a degree in Theology, and before becoming a psychotherapist I spent 10 years in pastoral church ministry. Many who have been part of the Church and ‘church culture’ have been impacted. Sorting through faith experiences and one’s theological beliefs is part of what might lead you to seek a Christian counsellor. For anyone who is deconstructing or reconstructing their faith, has experienced pain or abuse within in their faith community/clergy, or are simply interested in a biblical approach to psychotherapy, I can help with that.

I offer a spiritual perspective for clients who have specific belief structures. I work within the framework that you believe in and help you heal in conjunction with your spiritual and religious beliefs. I have found that encouraging my clients to follow their spiritual or religious path has helped them reaffirm their commitment to having a happy and rewarding life by connecting to the Divine Presence in their lives.
