I am a licensed practitioner with the Church of Religious Science which is a Christian based, non denominational, church. The foundational doctrines in this church follow the truth of Jesus' teachings. A fundamental teaching of this perspective is that God is love, and as such, Jesus is the representation of God, or love, in human form. We all have the potential to be "Christ conscious" and just as Jesus said, we all are capable of doing even greater works than he (John 14:12). My work as a Christian counsellor is not as adherent to a particular religious dogma as most, but rather broader, less dogmatic, and more firmly seated in the actual teachings of Jesus.

I provide psychotherapy, counselling, and mental health services that are grounded in my academic and experiential training. However, the foundation of my work is grounded in my faith. I firmly believe in a grand power/God that helps human beings to work for the healthy betterment of theirselves and of others. The main source of energy that drives us towards this betterment is love, compassion, and understanding. In faith based counselling and psychotherapy, I will help you to explore your own faith and spirituality and use these in supporting the resolution of resentful feelings, trauma, and other harmful experiences.

I am a Spiritual Director. Through my upbringing as a third generation Holocaust survivor I have learned through my family the strength of will and survival of Judaism. When people come to me they are looking for a larger presence in their lives. I am able to help others find faith and hope and reconnect to G-D. Something needs to shift in order to be able to reconnect. If it is darkness you see then I will guide you to the light. I will help guide you towards the wisdom you already have within you. I will help you find your passion again. When you know what you don't want, you will know what you want. I will sit with you for as long as it takes for you to create new hope and faith.

I believe that God is the ultimate healer. He does not want us to live in bondage, but rather wants people to live life fully and abundantly. I love people and consider it a privilege to walk along side them through their struggles and empower them to become all that God created them to be. My goal is to help people overcome issues and develop strategies to reach their maximum potential through Spirit-led counselling. I provide a caring, accepting and nurturing environment in which I help people develop tools to overcome the situations they are facing now, and give them the ability to apply these tools to other situations that arise in the future.

Combining the effort you put forth in counselling with your faith is one of the best ways to see benefits in your life, not just for the results you will feel for your own mental health, but also for your relationship with God. Being a Christian myself, I know how important it can be to apply my faith within the therapeutic experience. Inviting God into this experience helps us see His presence in our life and how we can use His guidance to continue our healing process.

I am trained in Spiritual Direction as well as Clinical counselling. Conversations about Christianity and the role of God are an important part of my work with clients who are seeking Christian counselling. Within a Biblical framework, counselling becomes an even richer process. A Biblical base simply means that the therapist believes that all human beings were created in the image of God, intended for relationship and designed with the capacity for growth and change. Forgiveness, personal empowerment, learning to love self and other are critical parts of the process. Jesus said "I came to heal the broken hearted" and at some point, most of us would love to sink into that compassionate offer. Faith and spirituality is at the core of who we are. My Christian faith informs who I am and my worldview. Although I am a Christian, I do not practice prayer-based counselling, instead my approach is mainly clinical, and positve-based.

As a Bible following Christian who was raised in a Christian family, I have my foundations based on the Biblical teachings. Due to various challenges that I experienced as a child I often felt I had the weight of the world on my shoulder. Therefore as a teenager and most of my childhood I suffered with depression. My experiences however also revealed my life’s purpose and incited the desire to support others ex-periencing their own challenges. It was only through the support of key people in my life and the grace of God that changed my outlook on life. To me, the greatest part of being a Christian is being Christ-like, meaning, looking at each and every individual as a worthwhile human being, created for a purpose. When people stop believing in themselves, I like to help them get back on track and feel good about themselves. I’ve successfully worked with disadvantaged kids, the elderly, troubled teens, ashamed individuals, and couples feeling hopeless. I see my clients through the Lord’s eyes, as precious and valuable, and I do my best to help them look at themselves that way. I strongly believe in divine forgiveness and lack of judgment, which allows people in the darkest places to forgive themselves and have hope for a better future.

My Masters degrees are from Christian university and my program had a spiritual/pastoral component. This means I am able to talk about spirituality and how important it can be for healing and coping in your life. I am open-minded so I know this faith/belief takes many forms for many different people. We can start with chatting about how faith and spirituality has been for you. We can also not talk about this or make this part of your healing journey. It needs to be about you and comfort level and needs. My approach is spiritual rather than religious in nature. I support people that may feel a traditional religion harmed them and are trying to heal this so it can still be a part life.

Trained at McMaster Divinity College and a former Pastor with a wide range of experience with most of the denominations, your beliefs are respected and you can be at ease knowing that you do not have to conform or comply to the beliefs of another. We all know that life is not always easy. Sometimes it can help to talk to someone who understands, and who can help you find a way through life’s challenges. Years ago, I found that the stresses of work and home life, combined with a stubborn refusal to admit I needed help, led me to a place of burnout. A counsellor came alongside me, helping me work though issues and find the strength and resilience I needed to get back into life. It was this experience that led me to become a psychotherapist, and I have been blessed over the years to walk alongside others as they learn to live happier, more fulfilled lives.

The counselling I do as a christian caring for christian clients includes incorporating a christian-world view. I will go where the client wants to go, whether that means exploring their understanding of God as Creator, Father, Lord and/or Saviour, or their understanding of spiritual practices and how this is improving or impeding their walk, as individuals or as part of community of faith. It might also mean talking about guilt, shame or their ambivalence with today's Church. I love these conversations and understand that we have a huge resources when we consider God's truth in relationships, work or where ever you find yourself stuck.

For many of us faith is not just important it is critical. As a professional therapist, I work with all kinds of faiths, with respect and honor. However I do identify and enjoy working within the context of Christianity. Over the last twenty-five years I have worked closely with believers, congregations, denominations and their leaders through individual, marriage and family issues but also issues of faith. Some times we struggle with our faith and it becomes more of a stumbling block. Other times it becomes our anchor. Having Christ as the center of history and ones life allows for resources that significantly bolster therapy.
