In today's society there are many clients Ive met who have felt rejected by the dogmatic and punitive mindsets of other "Christians." Understandably this has caused tremendous pain to people searching for unconditional acceptance. I assure you that throughout my life in professional study and personal experience I have felt the same sense of rejection and religiosity. I will support you to find the Truth, support and unconditional source of Love you seek. I was raised "Christian" with all the rules but eventually came to the end of such delusions and performance driven behaviors. It was in my darkest time that I came to understand the REAL Truth. I offer a spiritual perspective for clients who have specific belief structures. I work within the framework that you believe in and help you heal in conjunction with your spiritual and religious beliefs. I have found that encouraging my clients to follow their spiritual or religious path has helped them reaffirm their commitment to having a happy and rewarding life by connecting to the Divine Presence in their lives.

I was raised and educated in the church, and wherever I go, this background follows me. Maybe you're in the same boat: and the boat doesn't always sail smoothly, but it keeps you from drowning, all the same. If you need to talk to someone who understands that your decisions are formed in the context of your faith, I am here. If you need to talk about doubts or negativer feelings you have about your faith, I am here for that, too.

While I don't offer "Christian counselling" as a modality, I am a counsellor who is a Christian. I have a degree in Theology, and before becoming a psychotherapist I spent 10 years in pastoral church ministry. Many who have been part of the Church and ‘church culture’ have been impacted. Sorting through faith experiences and one’s theological beliefs is part of what might lead you to seek a Christian counsellor. For anyone who is deconstructing or reconstructing their faith, has experienced pain or abuse within in their faith community/clergy, or are simply interested in a biblical approach to psychotherapy, I can help with that.

Many people feel there is something beyond everyday life, but they don't know how to let it heal and empower them, how to live it out. If you wish to open to an experience of the transcendental, divine in our life, to an awareness of how this can be lived, and in respect of your understanding of the meaning of Christian message, I'd be happy to work with you. I could lead you through meditation and mindfulness, to acceptance, spirit of generosity, love, care towards people around you.

When clients specifically request our counselling sessions to have a Christian focus I am able to integrate scriptual teaching & Christian counselling research within the broader field of psychotherapy assessment & treatment. When I take a Christian approach I find that therapy works towards alleviating psychological stressors while helping people to appropriate a deeper understanding & appreciation of the grace of God.

While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth. For us, the work is more about truth and transparency of Christ's message and working on the natural laws of accountability and decision making that evolves from that. I am pleased to offer my Christian clients, counselling from a Christian perspective. For some people it is important to know that their counsellor understands both their spirituality and their values and ethics from their Christian perspective. I understand and practice a Christian way of life so if my clients so choose I can help them navigate their life through a Christian lens. Although not Biblically based counselling this means taking into consideration Christian values and doctrine to help clients move in a manner congruent with their beliefs.

For many people, spirituality is an important part of their belief system and helps inform who they are. While I work with clients of all backgrounds, many clients specifically seek out therapists who share similar values and beliefs as them. In offering counselling to Christians, I do not impart my views or beliefs, but simply hold space for you to process your experiences and allow you to ask yourself questions you may not feel comfortable asking in other places.

Somehow when we know that Jesus is the one who is doing the healing, and we place our trust in Him, we can find peace within the journey of healing. "Come to me.....and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28). I am a counselor of Christian faith and I use healing prayer and the Bible along with cognitive and mind-body approaches in my work with Christian clients.

As part of my graduate training in psychology, I also completed a Masters in Theology, as well as a pastoral practicum. My psychology training also included a focus on the integration of psychology and spirituality; how they can influence and strengthen each other. However, I never seek to inject my own beliefs into therapy! Rather, I feel it is important for me to understand how your faith and beliefs are a part of your understanding of your issues and how you can draw upon them. I try to see each of my patients as whole people, and that includes their faith and beliefs.
