Our LMFTs and licensed professionals work with couples to reduce conflict, change behavior, change your responses to your partner’s behavior, find realistic and practical solutions, and empower you as a couple to make a terrific life together. This differs from marriage counseling because we provide advice and/or show you how to develop your own rational solutions by dealing with problems in each of your histories that may be creating unhealthy patterns of relating.

I work with couples who wish to improve their relationship and couples who are uncertain about what they want. I believe that most couples can (re)establish happy relationships if both truly wish to remain together because of their feelings about and attitude towards the other person. Improving communication, helping each partner between understand the other, negotiating compromise, and bringing more validation and affirmation of each other into the marriage are often major areas of focus, I see couples together as well as individuals who wish for better understanding of their relationships and guidance as to changes they can make independently to better their relationships.

What are the most common couples' issues? If you are thinking "communication, conflict, sex, money, child rearing" you are correct. However, most therapists will go after the symptom on each side of the couple fence thinking that the way to effective change is by getting each party to "work" on their respective "issue". Many times the parties don’t agree but comply. Imagine if you could align the unconscious brains of a couple and stop the "working on your issues" part that has become so popular in therapy settings?
