Nobody should feel depression. As a therapist who has also suffered from depression, I fully understand the difficulty it brings in ones life. I have therefore tremendous empathy for the client who struggles from depression, and will do whatever I can to help. I will work closely with your Psychiatrist, and if you don't have one, I will find one for you, so that if necessary we can apply therapy in conjunction of medication.

We all do our best to have an abundance of hope in our lives. Sometimes circumstances, emotional wreckage and frustration prevent our reaching our goals and expectations. By identifying the emotional toll charged by an endless cycle of frustration, a personal plan of growth will be put in place. This approach short-circuits frustration and provides hope now and into tomorrow. Dr. Eljay has 20 years of counseling experience in lessening this burden.

My work with clients who experience depression involves the identification of one's 'internal working model' or lens that filters one's experience of self, other, and life in general. Persistent, negative thoughts about oneself ('I am worthless'), the other ('People cannot be trusted') and the future ('there is no hope that things will change') shape experience and relationships thus perpetuating a negative cycle. Experience of self and other within a safe, nonjudgemental, strength based working relationship fosters movement towards trust, self-worth and hope.

Building skills to manage the symptoms of depression has been proven to work for many people. We will work together to identify and analyze specific aspects of your life that may be causing you to be depressed. Once these areas are identified, we work together to build coping skills to manage your symptoms. Most of the time, we have these skills with in ourselves, and we simply need a skilled therapist to point them out and help activate them.

Do you feel that depression is crushing you? Depression results from repression of traumas as well as emotional deprivation, etc. from family of origin and current situations and relationships. Ms. Tracey's approach to healing depression is to help unearth the root causes and to find new, healthier ways of relating to the inner dynamics of the depression. Ms. Tracey also uses Schema therapy, a cognitive approach, and to uncover false beliefs about oneself which dramatically changes one's self-esteem and relationship issues. Uncovering hidden beliefs about oneself. This uncovers buried feelings and helps to alleviate depression. It creates hopefulness and new energy for life.
