Depression is a big umbrella word today to describe a large tree of disorders that fall under the general rubric of a low mood. For some people depression is something that follows them around and never disappears completely. For others depression is accompanied by the change in weather and is particularly disabling in the winter months when there is less sun. Working in talk therapy together with a psychiatric consultation and possible medication is the gold standard to treat depression.
