It’s life altering and can trick you in to believing that you can never be happy again. I am here to help. I work with a depressed nervous system by working with the body. Often we struggle to sleep, eat, or accomplish relatively simple tasks. Our bodies are stuck with the brake on. When our body thinks it is futile, out mind follows quickly thereafter and we begin to tell ourselves how pointless things are and how worthless we are. I work with the whole body to re-regulate the body to enable you to get back to a whole integrated self.

“Some days, 24 hours is too much to stay put in, so I take the day hour by hour, moment by moment.” Being happy and excited 525,600 minutes a year would be against nature. We all have our highs and lows. Psychotherapy means you are not alone during the lows - you have a guide who will get you through them. Psychotherapy helps you learn how to recognize symptoms of coming or lasting depression or dysthymia and understand it. You will learn to connect with your mind and body, to become an expert on your low mood. You will learn how to establish a structured plan of what to do when you have your low days, you will learn tailored coping skills, and experience little victories minute by minute.

Depression can color your world with a grayness that is hard to escape from. Depression can be very complex, involving a lot of heavy feelings and emotions. Let me help untangle the emotions and heal the pain. My job is to listen and find out gradually where the wound is - and then heal it. Depression can immobilize, it takes! What is missing, what have you lost, why is there hopelessness? What does the depression look like, what does it do, how does it make you act, and how does it affect you and the people you love? What has been swallowed up in that big black vast hole? Is the depression ever gone, what were you doing when it was driven away, how long was it vanished, and what was the glimpse of hope you saw? When working with depression a key concept is to ask questions. The answers to the questions are where we find the solutions. I recognize that the individuals I see are the experts in their lives. I partner with them them in therapy to bring about change.

I utilize a cognitive-behavioral therapy approach that focuses on the thought patterns that keep clients stuck in their depression. Many times we get trapped into thinking there is no hope. Thus in therapy I offer my clients empowering tools that motivate them to believe and have faith in themselves, accomplish their goals and desires, and have better relationships with the people in their lives that support them.

David’s work in helping people to heal ongoing depression and or anxiety disorders, includes a variety of holistic practices. His own struggle of 30 years with depression gives him a huge advantage when helping others to heal. David uses many techniques including amino acid therapy, CBT, meditation, contemplation and emotional journaling to lift us from the depths of depression. As we find the origin, we can then logically find the path to healing. David will also work with your physician, in helping to prescribe the very best holistic program possible, with your doctors understanding if necessary, in order to create a powerful and positive end result for your life.

Grey Matters International, Inc. and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, Ph.D. handles depression and other emotional disorders in a very unique way. Most of therapy or counseling processes utilize validation, unconditional positive regard, and reframing as common techniques to get someone to heal from their depression. Though this can be helpful, it rarely fixes the core problem behind it and for tough cases we then refer them usually to a psychiatrist for medication which can have tons of side effects.
