Eating disorders and body image concerns are one of my areas of specialty. My dissertation was on male body image dissatisfaction, I have taught several workshops on the issue, conducted therapy with individuals and groups on the topic and will be teaching a class on Body Image at the University of St. Thomas in the fall. I enjoy working with women of all ages who are struggling with their self-worth, body-image, and/or an eating disorder. My approach to helping individuals or families with eating disorders encompasses trying to understand the reasons for the controlling element of food. Is there an element of control that the individual is trying to achieve? My goal would be to help identify the resources that my client has directly in front of them that can be pulled out when there becomes that need for control. We would explore the entire family system and the issues within to help discover any possible dysfunction.

"It's not about the food." Therapist will provide support, guidance, and hold space to help client explore and identify the contributing factors that fuel ED thoughts and behaviors.
